CBRE Supports Cybozu with "New Normal" Fukuoka Office

CBRE (Japan Headquarters: Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) recently advised Cybozu, Inc. (hereinafter "Cybozu"), a Tokyo-based software company, with the relocation of their growing Fukuoka office.

In September 2019, Cybozu appointed CBRE to broker the lease of their new office in Fukuoka - an integration project that consolidated the sales department and the development department which had been split across two locations in Fukuoka. As a result of this project, Cybozu now occupies the 12th floor, 115 tsubo, of the Fukami Park Building, a 13-story state-of-the-art office building in Hakata that was completed in February 2021.

To identify a space suitable to become Cybozu's Kyushu hub, CBRE prioritized accessibility and convenience in its property search. Despite the tight market, CBRE was able to introduce properties that met Cybozu's needs and requirements by leveraging its network with building owners and market knowledge.

Ai Senaga (General Affairs Department, Human Resources Division, Cybozu) who oversaw the project, said, "We wanted to create an office that would foster and boost teamwork in order to support a growing team in Kyushu and to strengthen local talent acquisition. To adapt to COVID times we also conducted hearings with employees to understand their views on future office use. As work from home has become more prevalent, it was important to make days in the office a positive experience. To do so, we implemented ABW (Activity Based Working), providing an environment where employees can work in diverse and flexible ways. We are very grateful to CBRE for introducing a property that meets our needs and supports this type of work style."

Despite these circumstances, thanks to our strong network with building owners, we were able to attain information on a newly built property which we then proposed to Cybozu. COVID has heavily impacted the office market and at CBRE, we are developing various ways to support our clients' changing needs and work styles.
