CBRE announced today the completion of a major project for Kobelco Eco-Solutions Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "Kobelco Eco-Solutions"), consolidating and relocating its Tokyo offices that were involved in the business integration with IHI Kankyo Enginnering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "IKE"). CBRE provided brokerage services for the new property and also project management support.
In April 2018, Kobelco Eco-Solutions contracted CBRE to provide brokerage and project management services for the consolidation and relocation of its Tokyo offices. The project consolidated two Tokyo branches and the former IKE's head office functions into a single location - Sumitomo Fudosan Osaki Garden Tower, a cutting-edge office tower with 24 stories above ground and 2 below, which was completed in January 2018. Kobelco Eco-Solutions' new Tokyo office is now housed on the 23rd floor of the building, with a total floor space of approximately 1,000 tsubo.
The goal was to complete the relocation by the date of integration. CBRE contributed to the successful execution of the project by using its expertise and managing a rigid schedule.
Masahiro Yoshino (Manager, Administrative Department, Kobelco Eco-Solutions) who oversaw the project said, "Unlike usual office consolidations, for this relocation project, we were required to unite different corporate cultures into one, so there were difficulties in setting up a new office. The team of experts at CBRE played an advisory role and worked together with us to solve numerous problems. Thanks to their support, we were able to complete the relocation in nine months as scheduled, which at first seemed very challenging."
Kazuo Nakatani (Associate Director, Office Services, Advisory & Transaction Services, CBRE) also commented, "The client's goal was for their employees to start working at the consolidated office on the date of the business integration. In order to achieve this, CBRE responded to the client's request quickly, even before the formal decision and announcement of the integration were made. CBRE introduced properties and engaged in contract negotiations, while ensuring confidentiality of the plan. We will use this experience to continue to support clients' relocation needs that have become ever more diverse and sophisticated."
