Christina Tong has spent nearly a decade explaining what economic shifts mean for commercial real estate (CRE). She translates market data into a clear view of where rents, demand and vacancy are heading, and what that means for the decisions investors and occupiers face now.

Christina is a Senior Economist with CBRE Research. She leads the quarterly office and life sciences forecasts, produces the analysis behind them, and presents the results to clients and CRE professionals.

She also builds the products clients use to read those markets. Working with Bill Wheaton, the MIT professor who co-founded Torto Wheaton Research (now CBRE Econometric Advisors), and colleagues across EA's data and economics teams, Christina helped develop CBRE EA's asking, taking and effective rent series. The series paints a true picture of office market movement and lets investors underwrite to real economics instead of headline numbers.

Her published research takes on the questions clients raise most often: What happened to the office sector after the structural shift? Why does flight-to-quality keep concentrating demand in a narrow band of buildings? How will AI adoption reshape office requirements?

Christina joined CBRE Econometric Advisors in 2015 as a Senior Research Analyst and covered the retail sector as an Economist before moving to the office team and adding life sciences coverage. She graduated with distinction from Brandeis University with a master's degree in international economics and finance. She is based in Boston.

Outside of work, Christina spends her time with her family and her dog, who gets her out on a hiking trail most weekends.
