2024 Asia Pacific Investor Intentions Survey: Japan Results

CBRE’s 2024 Asia Pacific Investor Intentions Survey was conducted in November 2023. The survey asked respondents a range of questions about their investment strategies, including their willingness to acquire or sell properties in 2024 and their preferred asset types. This report summarizes the responses of the Japanese and overseas investors based in Japan.

The survey results point to the possibility of more asset sales by investors in Japan this year on the back of the anticipated rise in interest rates.

In terms of asset type, the survey revealed a change in investor preference based on fundamentals. Residential properties, for which rents are likely to benefit in an inflationary environment, took the top spot for the first time.
