Jury praises CBRE’s innovative approach to enhancing workstyles at Tokyo headquarters
CBRE’s Japan headquarters has won a prestigious “New Office Promotion Award” at the 28th Nikkei New Office Awards in recognition of outstanding originality in the design of its Tokyo office. Sponsored by the The Nikkei Newspaper and the New Office Promotion Association (NOPA), the Nikkei New Office Award seeks to recognize office environments in Japan that are pleasant and highly functional. An award ceremony was held on August 28, 2015 in Otemachi, Tokyo. This is the second time that CBRE has been recognized with an award of this kind in Japan. Earlier this year our Tokyo HQ was the recipient of the “Excellent FM Award” from the Japan Facility Management Association for workplace innovation.
The jury praised the way the new office enhances creativity and productivity through so-called “activity-based working.” Based upon work style and work-need, employees can freely choose from 15 different kinds of office environments, including quiet zones for concentration, telephone rooms and collaboration spaces. Advanced communications technology facilitates mobility, idea sharing and collaboration across different departments.
In April 2014, CBRE relocated its Japan HQ from Hamamatsucho to Marunouchi, Tokyo, consolidating four Tokyo offices at the same time. In doing so, the office introduced “CBRE Workplace Strategy”, a global initiative that links business strategy, office function, and the office environment to enable peak performance and transform corporate culture.
