CBRE Receives “Excellent FM Award” for Workplace Innovation at New Tokyo Headquarters

Tokyo, February 20th, 2015 - Yesterday, the Japan Facility Management Association recognized CBRE’s Tokyo headquarters with its “Excellent FM Award” for the office’s innovative workplace.  This is the first time that CBRE has been recognized with this award, which is presented to individuals and organizations demonstrating exemplary achievements in facility management. 

CBRE received the award for its successful implementation of Workplace 360, CBRE’s innovative approach to the “office of the future”, at its headquarters in Marunouchi, Tokyo.

Prior to CBRE relocating to the district in April 2014, CBRE analyzed its utilization of its existing workplace including employee work patterns, use of conference rooms, common areas, and technology, and its brand.  Based on this data, the company created a single open-plan office that raised operational efficiency; improved productivity, motivation, and collaboration; and enhanced its brand.  The company also focused its attention on being more environmentally sustainable, achieving a 92% reduction in paper storage, a 45% reduction in the use of water through the building’s grey water system, and a 25% reduction in lighting energy.  In recognition of these efforts, the U.S. Green Building Council recognized CBRE’s Tokyo office with the coveted LEED®Gold Certification, making CBRE’s Tokyo HQ one of the few offices in Japan to achieve such recognition.
