Certification recognizes CBRE’s drive to enhance the environmental performance and workplace quality of its Tokyo headquarters, including a 92% reduction in on-site paper storage
CBRE Japan has won the coveted LEED®Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for the implementation of sustainable workplace practices in its new Tokyo headquarters, making it one of the few offices in Japan to achieve such certification. The certification also reaffirms CBRE’s industry leadership in delivering sustainability solutions.
LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) is a globally recognized green building certification program that evaluates energy and water use, material use and other factors. In its efforts to be a more sustainable business, CBRE Japan’s achievements included:
- A 92% reduction in on-site paper storage
- Reuse or recycling of 90% of office construction waste
- Globally recognized Energy Star ratings for 90% of purchased electronics and equipment
- 45% reduction in the use of water through the building’s grey water system
- 25% reduction in the use of energy for lighting
The Tokyo headquarters was designed using CBRE’s proprietary ‘Office of the Future’ workplace program. Called “Workplace 360”, the Tokyo HQ has had significant improvements in staff motivation and productivity by optimizing office space usage, including free address seating and Activity Based Working. The upgraded work environment also includes initiatives targeted at employee well-being and work-life balance, such as shower rooms and facilities for nursing mothers.
